Most of you have probably seen the news, because I spilled the beans on Saturday & it was a big one – Alfred and I are expecting!! We find out the gender tomorrow (so so excited!!) and I literally cannot wait! My wonderful future in-laws threw Alfred and I an engagement party this past weekend, and we decided it would be the perfect time to let everyone in on the secret.
Telling our friends and family the news has been quite the roller coaster ride. We got reactions ranging from tears of joy & absolute elation to tears of sadness and harsh words, partly because we are so young and not yet married and partly because this was far from planned or expected. Most reactions were ones of nervous excitement. Luckily for me, I have the absolute best partner I could ever ask for. Alfred has been my rock throughout this whole messy, exciting process, and I don’t know what I would do without him. I can’t say that we weren’t completely shocked and confused at what we were feeling ourselves at first (except for Alfred – he’s been happy since day one!) At the end of the day we decided to be happy, because we really are absolutely elated, and after the initial shock wore off those closest to us have become happy as well.
Now, just because we are happy & excited does not mean that we aren’t also somewhat terrified! I mean, the only living creatures that have completely depended on either of us are Tina and Henry (our pet bunnies) and let’s be honest, they are pretty low maintenance pets. We were actually just talking about this a few days ago – we can’t believe that in just 4 1/2 months we will actually being taking our baby home from the hospital!! Our entire lives are going to be flipped upside down, but in the best possible way. We are lucky to have such a huge support system and we know that this baby is going to have one of the most loving homes I could ever imagine!
Because I have been getting lots of questions, here are the latest updates:
1. Alfred and I are getting married THIS Friday!! We are having a courthouse ceremony with our parents & Alfred’s siblings. However, we are still planning on having our big wedding with friends & family next summer!
2. Yes, I am going to keep working as a financial associate full time and I am going to keep my photography business! I have been busy gearing up photography projects & sessions for the fall before the baby is due, and plan to take off all of winter & most of spring in my business in order to focus on our new little family. Come late spring / early summer I’ll be back ready to rock & roll!
3. Alfred & I are currently living with my parents and looking for our own place in Fredericksburg to move into within the next couple of months!
If you made it to the end of this – thank you for reading! I have a ton of new blog posts loaded & ready to go, so I promise I won’t go all crickets on you again!
